Could you guess that the theme for this valentine’s Day shoot is “I’m Sweet on You?” This is going to be a long post because I am having a hard time narrowing down the images, they are all just too cute!

Do you remember this beautiful guy?
Yes, well he is now 9 months old! Drew’s mom and I have kept in touch and I have been looking forward to doing portraits for them pretty much since I walked out the door at Drew’s newborn shoot.
Can you blame me? He’s a total flirt, and he just LOVES the camera and the camera clearly loves him. There were so many great images of the whole family and Drew it was hard for me to decide which to post here.. which is why this will be a long one!
Isn’t he just outrageously cute? Thank you M. family for letting me capture this fleeting time in Drew’s life.. he’ll be running around the house before you know it!
All photographers start by practicing on their own kids, which means that a day doesn’t go by when there isn’t some sort of test shoot.. Then, eventually, family time gives way to client shoots, evenings are spent editing those shoots and memory cards become full of other people’s children!
So this weekend I literally had to “schedule” a shoot with Jasper just like I would a client shoot. I picked out his wardrobe, convinced my husband to come along and play wrangler, cleared my memory cards and we headed out at just the right time of day and the right time of year for peak fall foliage.
In all honesty there were a million other things we needed to do that day, but now that I have these images I can’t imagine that I almost went grocery shopping instead..

How else will I be able to remember exactly how it felt to look at this face.. that perfect, pouty and kissable bottom lip, those long eyelashes, the crooked little bottom teeth?
Just because I am a photographer doesn’t mean it’s always easy getting my own baby to pose for me.. but sometimes, just sometimes I strike gold:
Abigail’s dad Jeffery and I had worked together on a web project a while ago but had never actually met face to face. So when he and his wife Pamela asked me to take their family photos I was happy for the opportunity to finally meet him, but also because I’d seen pictures of his gorgeous daughter Abigail on his facebook page and couldn’t wait to get her in front of the camera!
Abigail was the perfect model, a little shy at first, agreeing to pose only if she could hold Mr. Bear:
and then only if she was holding mommy or daddy’s hand..
But then, she eventually warmed up to the camera, enjoying the beautiful day..
and even started showing some attitude..
and then, partly lured by the promise of ice cream, she finally showed her true colors and started posing for the camera like a pro!
with a little silliness on the side – practicing for the ice cream :)
but then she scraped her elbow and daddy came to the rescue..
after which she agreed to only one last shot with mommy before insisting that it was time to cash in on her ice cream reward..
