Beautiful Abigail and Family

November 9, 2009

Abigail’s dad Jeffery and I had worked together on a web project a while ago but had never actually met face to face.  So when he and his wife Pamela asked me to take their family photos I was happy for the opportunity to finally meet him, but also because I’d seen pictures of his gorgeous daughter Abigail on his facebook page and couldn’t wait to get her in front of the camera!

Abigail was the perfect model, a little shy at first, agreeing to pose only if she could hold Mr. Bear:

and then only if she was holding mommy or daddy’s hand..

But then, she eventually warmed up to the camera, enjoying the beautiful day..

and even started showing some attitude..

and then, partly lured by the promise of ice cream, she finally showed her true colors and started posing for the camera like a pro!

with a little silliness on the side – practicing for the ice cream :)

but then she scraped her elbow and daddy came to the rescue..

after which she agreed to only one last shot with mommy before insisting that it was time to cash in on her ice cream reward..

Thank you Pamela, Jeffrey and Abigail for allowing me the privilege of photographing your beautiful family!

Little Man

October 28, 2009

Jeff’s friends at work chipped in to buy him this adorable little Kenneth Cole outfit.  To celebrate Jasper’s recent growth spurt which enabled him to actually fit in the clothes, we did a mini photoshoot out under the pergola. Check out the cool kid shoes!

I forgot to mention that when Daddy is the one assisting, Jasper gets hysterical and makes some pretty ridiculous faces – and only will look at Daddy and not the camera!

But I did manage to catch his eye once..

or twice..

and even the hint of a smile..

Jasper is 14.5 months.. where has the time gone??

Mason

October 13, 2009

When Mason’s mommy Amy asked me if I’d take his holiday card photos how could I say no? He’s only a few days younger than Jasper and so alike in so many ways  (they both don’t like to eat for one thing!)  not the least of which is total cuteness.

Even better, Amy likes to dress him up “like a Von Trapp” as Mason’s daddy puts it.  Which just makes my job so much easier. Does it get any cuter than baby boy in a bow tie??

Or in a derby hat?

Toddlers at this age in particular are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to shoot. Just try to get them to stand still for two seconds, and if they are standing still just try to get them to look at you.  It’s like winning the lottery if/when it happens!  I thought maybe we’d have more luck in the park.. but no, not really.

Who can blame him though? Why would you want to look at the crazy lady pointing the camera lens in your face when there are so many interesting things going on around you? Like airplanes flying overhead..

or doggies and babies walking by..

but then – it happened – one look, at me!!!! And even a sly little smile..

Unfortunately Amy wasn’t feeling well, so her husband had to step in for the role of toddler wrangler photo assistant. Which he did with finesse.  As a reward for all of his hard work, I hope he enjoys this portrait of he and Mason, both miraculously looking at me – at the same time!!:

As a fellow photo enthusiast, he confided that he’s usually on the other side of the lens. I know how that is, all too well.

Thank you Amy, Kimo and Mason for letting me into your world for a day!
