One of the wonderful advantages of being the creator of the Photographer’s Wall Display Guides is that I get to “meet” so many photographers from around the country who use my products. One of those wonderful photographers Anita from Rustic Star Photography in Washington state invited me on a shoot she arranged while we were both in Las Vegas for an industry conference. When I say “arranged” I mean she coordinated EVERYTHING from securing the amazing location, renting a car, getting the models, the wardrobe – yes everything!

It was one of the highlights of the trip, and I will be forever grateful to you Anita for inviting me along for such an amazing experience!

Photographers, I used my new Tilt Shift action on all but the last image. Check it out if you want to achieve a similar look (well, I can’t guarantee it will give you a fabulous location with fabulous models but you know what I mean!)

Happy Valentine’s Day from Jasper & Peyton

I love doing Valentine’s day shoots with Jasper, but being that it’s a holiday that celebrates love, I wanted to include his bestie girlfriend Peyton. Petyon’s mom and I love getting them together for playdates because they just play so NICELY together and always have and they get so excited to see each other! I think you can tell from these images that even preschoolers can get their flirt on!

As those of you who are moms already know, leaving your baby when you have to go back to work is one of the hardest things you’ll ever have to do as a parent. But, if you are as lucky as I am to have found a wonderful, caring daycare, it does make it a lot easier. When the director of my son Jasper’s daycare called me into her office to tell me she was pregnant, she actually said “You are going to have another baby to photograph in 9 months!” so there was never any question really that they would go anywhere else for their precious newborn photos!

And what a handsome little guy he is already:

All newborn babies are cute, but some are just plain gorgeous! I think I let out an audible gasp when I first caught a glimpse of Alessandra in her carseat. That hair, those eyes, that chin! A Daddy better watch out because she’s going to be a heartbreaker..

Such a beautiful family, I can’t wait to see them again!

Carter Mathew

Carter kicked off my newborn-a-palooza. THREE newborns in one week, a record!

As soon as his parents took him out of the car-seat I was just amazed at his coloring – just a wee fuzz of orange hair, so sweet and cute! Carter’s daddy is a firefighter, so we had some fun incorporating that into the images.

The studio was hot (as it always has to be for newborns!) so I had to do a fair bit of convincing to get Dad to put on his jacket, but I’m so glad I did. Someday Carter will treasure this photo of he and his dad!

K family, it was wonderful meeting you – thank you for allowing me to capture these portraits of this special time in your lives!

Waaaanthony

I had to name this post after what Anthony’s parents have taken to calling him – too cute! Anthony was one of 4 newborn sessions that I had in the course of two weeks, out of all of them, he was the only to make it to the “prop” shot stage despite his nickname! Not to say that he didn’t give us a run for the money, he spent most of the almost 4 hour session trying his hardest NOT to fall asleep, and only when we are all ready to call it quits did he finally fall into a very deep sleep, which is how we managed to get so many of the bucket shots you see at the end.

As you can see, it was worth the wait!

Thank you C. family for being so much fun to hang out with during our long waits to get Anthony sleeping! Can’t wait to see you for his future milestones!

This year, I was determined that our family would not be the proverbial shoe-makers children… we WOULD have our own family portrait this year! And through the wonders of a remote shutter release, I was able to take these family self-portraits a few weeks ago.

This was the first full family session I shot at my new favorite location. I couldn’t have asked for a better family to break it in with me. Happy, beautiful and up for anything, meet the M. family!

One of my favorite things about this location is that after the warm glow of the sun has set, we can capture something like this..

Fall Family Fun!

This fall was unusually warm, which for a photographer, is a godsend. It’s our busiest season but also can be chilly and tricky to time an outdoor session right so that it’s not too frigid for the little ones! We definitely didn’t need to worry about that for this session, the weekend was practically summertime hot. I think you can feel the sunshine and warmth in these images despite the fall leaves on the ground – due in no small part to the warmth of this beautiful family and the love that they share!
